Dyspepsia or Indigestion is a functional disease, affecting the stomach and small intestine. Tackling indigestion in babies is very important. A number of babies suffer from the condition which gives discomfort to a baby and may be caused by:

Simple home remedies

These home remedies are known to relieve the symptoms of indigestion-

Cold milk:

A glass of cold cow’s milk can help relieve slight indigestion. It should not too cold for the baby. Use this method if your child is a year old or above.

Honey and Cinnamon powder:

Mix cinnamon powder and honey. Give only if your child has completed one year.

Cinnamon, milk, and honey:

A blend of cinnamon, warm milk and honey is good for stomach aches and cramps.

Peppermint Oil:

The fragrance of peppermint oil helps ease from nausea.


Pineapples are a great source of roughage. You may give a slice to your child daily. This will relieve indigestion and improve digestion.

Lemon water:

This tastes good as well as is a natural remedy.

Ginger, Lemon, and Honey:

These three ingredients if taken together improves the digestion and relieves acidity.


Clove water can be made by boiling 2-3 cloves with sugar and water, cool it before giving it. It is beneficial for the pancreas and for digestion.

Burping the infant the right way:

It is advisable that your baby is burped in the right way to remove excess air from the body. Spitting milk when the burp is normal for newborns.
